The Boston Chapter American Guild of Organists Young Organists Initiative is scheduled to hold their annual auditions for organ scholarship students, Saturday October 21 11:00 a.m. at Marsh Chapel at Boston University.

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage young pianists and organists who possess musical skill, potential and work ethic with the opportunity to study organ. Each scholarship winner will receive one year (20 total) of lessons with an AGO member and perform at historic King’s Chapel June 27th as part of their noontime recital series. Additionally, each scholarship winner receives a generous voucher from Spectrum Music for organ music and a one-year membership in the Boston Chapter of the AGO.

The audition is an opportunity for us to identify those piano and organ students who will benefit from a scholarship and continue honing their skills on the instrument and encouraging other aspiring organists long after. The auditions are open to organ and piano students in grades 6-12. Students are only eligible to receive the scholarship once so previous winners are no longer eligible.

Each student will be asked to play two pieces of his or her choosing. They may be piano or organ music, and each student will be asked to play the organ. Students of all level of playing are encouraged to participate as we are looking for potential, and therefore even those students having played for a short period of time have received scholarships in the past. Each audition will take 15 minutes and you will hear of the final decision within a week. For more information please contact Christine Hogan at . In the meantime audition forms may be found here.
